As you can see from the picture in this post, it was one fabulous day of fishing on Maryland's Chesapeake Bay. This group limited out on BIG Chesapeake Bay striped bass, while trolling. These fish were bigger than most fish that were caught during the spring trophy season, as these fish ranged between 36 and 46 inches in length! It was an exciting day for everybody, with excellent weather to boot.
We still have a couple of days open before the season ends on December 15. Hopefully, these fish will stick around at least until then. If you want to get a shot on them, just give us a call at (410) 397-3743 or visit our website at http://www.sawyercharters.com!Capt. The pictures in this post show what happened on Saturday and Sunday. The results were basically the same, featuring legal limits of Maryland rockfish, along with some bluefish that were thrown in for good measure. We caught these fish on live spot fish and light tackle. With the weather cooling off and the spot leaving town, we will be switching over to trolling any day now.
If you're still looking to fish with us in 2012, there is still time! We have plenty of open dates between now and the end of the season! Even if you can't get together enough people to make a full charter, let us know, and we'll see what we can do. Check out the picture in this post! This is what the striper fishing on the Chesapeake Bay has been like this September. We've been steadily catching legal limits of rockfish on the Bay. These fish have been ranging mostly between 18 and 24 inches in length. We've also been catching bluefish mixed in that range between 1 and 5 pounds. We've been doing this with a combination of live bait and light tackle.
We expect this fishing to continue for at least the next 2-3 weeks. After that, we will probably be trolling again, and hopefully in November, we'll start seeing some of the bigger fish!

August 4, 2012
Today, we had a bachelor party aboard the Sawyer. As you can see, we began August in the same way that we ended July. We did that with a full legal limit of Chesapeake Bay rockfish! These fish ranged between 18 and 24 inches in length.
These fish were caught with live bait and light tackle. As soon as we detected some fish on our sonar, we started throwing live spot fish overboard. Not long after that, we started getting hook-ups.
This crew of eleven limited out on Maryland striped bass in no time. This was the first time that these fine folks came to see us, and we hope to see them again!
Thank you very much guys!
We still have plenty of open dates for August and beyond. So, if you're even thinking about booking one of these action-packed Chesapeake Bay fishing charters, then you need to give us a call at (410) 397-3743, or shoot us an email at sawyercharters@yahoo.com!Capt. Hello Everybody,
It's been a while, but I'm back for a new post on this blog. The striper fishing right now is wide open, and has been for the past several weeks. The best way to catch 'em right now is by live-lining with spot fish for bait.
The picture above shows what transpired this past Friday, when this group of longtime customers went fishing with us. It took a little bit of time to find the fish, but once we did, these guys caught them pretty quick. They limited out on Chesapeake Bay rockfish, and then added some bluefish to the catch. We always have a great time with these guys, and can't wait to see them again in the spring!

The picture above shows what happened on our Sunday trip. These guys came to see us from Idaho, and they had a great time. They also limited out on stripers in very short order. This was then followed by a quick, yet abundant, catch of white perch. These guys really enjoyed themselves while landing this catch, and enjoying the natural beauty that only the Chesapeake Bay can provide.
The fishing is still great, so if you want to drop a line into the mighty Chesapeake, just give us a call at (410) 397-3743, or check out our website at http://www.sawyercharters.com!Capt. This week featured a lot of fishing and great fun aboard the Sawyer during the 2012 spring trophy striped bass season. The picture above shows what happened on Monday, as our crew was quick to land their legal limit of Chesapeake Bay striped bass. In spite of forecasts over the weekend calling for foul weather that almost led to us losing the charter for the day, the weather turned out to be just fine with relatively calm seas. Within about three hours, this group of nine landed their legal limit of Chesapeake Bay rockfish.

Above, you see what happened on our Tuesday charter, as this gang of six anglers also limited out in short order. In fact, these guys reached their quota on trophy Maryland stripers before we could even get all of our lines out. They were so happy with their trip that they have already booked one for next year.

The picture above shows three generations of fishermen who fished with us on Wednesday morning. They also quickly landed their limit while trolling. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, which is quite normal for these guys who have been fishing with us for many, many years now.

Above, you can see the results of our Wednesday afternoon charter. These guys have also been fishing with us for well over a decade. They were rewarded today with beautiful weather and a very nice catch of Chesapeake Bay stripers. These rockfish were mostly in the mid to upper 30s in length, with a couple of them over 40 inches. They have also reserved their spots for next spring.

On Thursday, it was more of the same, as the crew pictured above landed their legal limit by 8:30am, the fastest they have ever done so in the many years that they have fished with us. These were also some very nice fish, with some of them carrying sea lice, which may indicate an extended spring season similar to that of last year.

Above, you can see what happened on our Thursday afternoon charter. These guys were the same fellows who fished with us on the previous day, and again, they went home with a nice catch. We can't wait to see these guys again next year!

After being stymied on Friday by foul weather, we were back at it on Saturday, with exceptional results once again. This crew of six anglers were quick to land their legal quota of Maryland rockfish. These fish also had some pretty good size. They have already reserved two dates with us for next spring!

As you can see, today was no different. Within two hours, this gang had wrapped up their legal limit of Chesapeake Bay striped bass! The bite was red hot as soon as we arrived at the fishing grounds. The gentleman pictured below caught our first big fish of the fall. It was about 38 inches long.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS6Rw-_46dfO_PgdUodT_-P86gWS776QhJvOemm25vCqEVQIu-Mp45zdQ4CHKVBwuEpi-qNdXigbpkrH-Thgl3SqEEXEeduG7jlWRjTIks3aKHWx8TuAh6HM7bmdx1NM3PYDd6tKBLIC4/s400/Nov2511.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5680127165709528034" />
The picture below shows what transpired this past Saturday, as the crew in the picture went home with four trophy Maryland striped bass that were 28 inches or longer.
We heard that there was some kind of earthquake that happened today, but we never noticed it. While everyone on shore was trying to find something to hold on to, we were out on one of our world-famous Chesapeake Bay fishing charters, hunting for striped bass. As you can see from the above picture, it was another successful day, as this crew limited out on Maryland rockfish in pretty short order. They did this by fishing with live bait, using light tackle and spinning reels. After that, we did some bottom fishing for white perch, which are great to eat.

This was our first Chesapeake Bay charter fishing trip in almost two weeks, and it feels great to be back out on the water. We have a bunch of available dates, so if you're thinking about doing some striper fishing, don't hesitate to call us at (410) 397-3743!

The guys in the above picture have been out with us on Chesapeake Bay fishing charters for years, and they always seem to do really well. Today was no exception. These guys caught their fish today by using live spot for bait, a technique that is also known as live-lining. After spending a couple of hours fishing for bait, we went on out to where we've been catching our fish, and the stripers were waiting for us. Within an hour of dropping the anchor, these guys caught their legal limit of Maryland Chesapeake Bay rockfish!

By looking closely at the above picture, it may appear that they came up short of their limit, but some of them only wanted to hold up one fish. On Friday the 24th, we had a group of seven limit out on Chesapeake Bay stripers. It wasn't easy, as they had to catch their bait, but once they started fishing for the stripers, they started picking them up, one after the other. However, the fishing really dried up before they could finish their limit, so we had to pull our anchor and look around. Not long after that, we found birds working over numerous piles of breaking fish. Sure enough, those breaking fish were Maryland rockfish. We put over our trolling lines and started catching right away. Our crew was catching fish as fast as they could pull them. They had their limit in no time.

On Saturday, we headed down the bay to do some croaker fishing. The crew that we had with us managed to catch their legal limit of croakers. It was slow starting out, but once the sun went down, the fish started to bite like crazy. This is typical when croaker fishing. There were numerous occasions throughout the evening where everybody had a fish on at the same time.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu03mXGXY7VXXTGFjiJmg-0vkHAXs1LP7I65BupHcAI8Zc2HJt6aZbgjlfWjPFhymqm5V0CpIabD8vqzlYkHkNvkyeYPEjFMWOy5PhDLgn69YchVYBJeU81DpdSdWlmb6ywfF0xBGFVEQ/s400/Jun2711.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5623762265621059858" />
This past Monday, the 27th, we were back to striper fishing with a great crew that came to see us for the first time. Hopefully, it won't be their last. They went fishing with us early in the morning. It took us a while to get the stripers to come to us, but once they did, we started picking away at them. Just before we finished out our legal limit of Chesapeake Bay striped bass, the fishing cut off due to a hard-running current. We pulled up our lines and went perch fishing for a while. Then, we went back to looking for the stripers, and they were ready for us. They would have eaten the bottom off of the boat if they could have. The crew pictured above caught their legal limit in very short order. It was a great time for everybody.

If you're looking to book a Chesapeake Bay fishing charter this summer, give us a call at (410) 397-3743, or visit our website at http://www.sawyercharters.com!Capt. The two crews pictured below both caught their legal limits of Chesapeake Bay striped bass, on a weekend where you couldn't have asked the weather to be any better.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirPdhRjlCfBMKXjJsp0ZYvDWvfBnzeluHRi95WMROzi7Q2OEHKoV-BLYRswDO7ITtk9S5_uw94NUy1E4bMr35RiiTfb0IPQ5imYla3UNmeHIIIOK9NvO7kmnJRrpkTattLDAtVHwymiXc/s400/Jun1711.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5619994793937233298" />
The crew pictured above caught their legal limit of stripers with live bait. After they caught their bait, they went hunting for rockfish. They dropped their lines upon seeing a few on the meter. The fish started to bite right away and the action was non-stop until they caught their limit. Toward the end, you couldn't keep the fish off!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh0qq1RKM8fHFcraOHHmR6PNgbPWXO8tmcDj25leukdbzqUv1lwogabF99MZO7jdxCgrhWgog_ivjp72bSZDOxI9hzekvF7owghBD3J2kwTH5xi3LZolDddJvPYyli_4twf50Pqk7_JC4/s400/Jun1811.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5619994608546005634" />
The next day, the crew pictured above also caught their limit of Maryland rockfish, but they really had to work for it. When we got out into the Bay, there was no current, and the fish wouldn't bite. While we waited things out, we did some perch fishing, and then we started to head down the Bay. As we were working our way down, we started seeing rockfish breaking the surface all over the place. Upon seeing this, we broke out our trolling gear and started putting out lines. Within an hour, we went from zero to a full limit of stripers. When the fish bite, the action is just non-stop!

We still have plenty of availabilities this summer if you want to reserve your very own Maryland charter fishing experience. The crew that we had with us that day had a great time as they caught their legal limit of Maryland rockfish in just a couple of hours worth of fishing.

Friday, June 3 was no different than the day before, as we had a group of ten anglers limit out in relatively short order. There were a few times during that trip, where we had several fish on at one time! These Chesapeake Bay striped bass ranged between 18 and 26 inches in length.

Saturday, June 4 was another excellent day of Chesapeake Bay fishing action, marked by legal limits on both our morning and afternoon charters. On our afternoon trip, we had three fish that were over 30 inches long, so there still are a few big fish around!

For pictures of the fishing action over the past weekend, please visit the Chesapeake Bay fishing report section of our website at http://www.sawyercharters.com !Capt. What you see in the picture above is another full legal limit of Chesapeake Bay rockfish. In spite of the end result, it was slow starting out, due in part to the weather, which featured high winds, a lot of waves, and a hard-running current, none of which are favorable for fishing. However, as the wind died down due to the current slacking up, we proceeded to pick and chip away until we had our legal limit. Once the fish get hungry, they will bite as they did today!Capt. The picture above is from our morning trip, where this awesome crew caught their limit of Chesapeake Bay striped bass by 8am! The fishing was great. We couldn't keep them off the hooks. We were catching them as we were pulling in our lines.

The picture below shows what transpired during our afternoon trip. More patience was required during this trip as these Maryland rockfish were a bit finicky. You could see them on the sonar, but they would not bite. However after waiting them out for a few hours, they eventually got hungry and we had several hook-ups, leading to the results shown in the picture below.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd-4i4qwF-OENQVRFaikBNRvBQO4PjWjhSKJD6HoSeNQpUftGXgGLNK1demikXWc9lVw6k7fHeNTkE0j2Z6cRo2FbcvmBwb01EwumlG58ysVRxXDW3qZG2M5uly2tGhdWmx8gJtcacXb4/s400/Apr2911b.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601519606670954018" />Capt. Our crew for this trip landed its legal limit of Chesapeake Bay striped bass in less than two hours of fishing.
