Rockfish on Maryland's Chesapeake Bay - July 24, 2009

Today, the group pictured above left Hoopers Island at about 1:00 in the afternoon, and spent about an hour catching live bait. After that, we went striper fishing. We picked up seven or eight rockfish within the first hour, but then it dried up for a while. We went riding around, looking for them. Every time we'd stop, we'd pick two or three. As the day started to wind down, we found some stripers breaking the water. We stopped on them, and within 20 minutes, we had our legal limit of Chesapeake Bay striped bass! These Maryland rockfish ranged between 18 and 26 inches in length.

If you want some of these stripers, you better get down here to Hoopers Island! Visit http://www.sawyercharters.com/ or call (410) 397-3743 to reserve your Chesapeake Bay fishing adventure!
