Bluefish and Croaker Fishing on Maryland's Chesapeake Bay - August 1, 2009

After a long absence, mostly weather-related, we were back out on the Chesapeake Bay, fishing for bluefish and croakers. For the first time in a while, the weather was decent, with a light wind out of the south. The bluefish were as fast you could pull them. We caught our legal limit of those, and then we anchored up at sundown, and caught about 100 croakers, bottom fishing. The croakers were the best we've seen all season, ranging between 12 and 18 inches in length!

We expect the blues to be around through the fall, and the croakers to hang around for another 2-3 weeks, so if you want to catch some of these fish on the Chesapeake Bay, get on over to www.sawyercharters.com!
